What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Elevated Blood Pressure?

my mother is recently diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri.she is 60 yrs old ,4'5" and 160lb. she is getting severe headache sometimes(once a month) also she has high blood pressure. i know shunt is final treatment but i want to aviod that for so much negative side effect.waht is your advice.
