What Causes Severe Intestinal Pain?

I was having intense intestinal pain that felt like gas pains. I went to the bathroom, had a few more intense pains, and then I had a bowel movement. When I wiped my anus, I saw a large amount of blood on the tissue. Then I saw a large amount of blood in the toilet with the stool. What is happening?
