What Causes Severe Itching On The Vagina?

hi, i'm 60 and have a very ichy area on the out side of the labia major. the iching is localised to an area the size of a 10p. the itching is severe at times. also, the area is rather bulbous but soft and rather 'wavey' compared to the left side (itching only on the right).
