What Causes Severe Itching Sensation On Abdomen And Upper Legs?

I am experiencing severe itching on my abdomen and upper legs. I thought it was an reaction to some tights I wore on Monday last but the itching is still bad.... should it last that long? Could it be something else? Do I need to see a dermatolgist? I don't really see a rash unless I scratch it alot. Thanks.
