What Causes Severe Menstrual Cramping During Period?

Hi, I am a newely wed 3 months & i'm experiencing bad menstrual cramps during my period. usually i used to have cramps for the first 2 days of my period; however now after marriage i'm having very bad cramps until the 4th/5th day of my period. is that normal?
