I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis by a neurologist. I have had two lumbar punctures which do not show MS in my spinal fluid. Other diseases were also ruled out. I have brain lestions and have quite a lot more than my last brain MRI 4 and 1/2 years ago. The brain lesions are basically in the same area, but much worse than before, and one of them looks like rings going downward--like a chain. My neurologist thinks it is MS and wants to treat it with an injectible interferon. I have had many different symptoms including severe nerve pain, numbness, electrical shock feelings, dizziness, fatigue, memory loss, and sharp shooting pains through my eyes (usually my right eye, but not always). I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia five years ago and given cymbalta and lyrica for the nerve pain. Lyrical was like a miracle for the nerve pain--it worked in about two weeks for me to almost totally eliminating the sharp shooting pains. (Not totally, but mostly.) I also have lupus anti-coagulant which I guess could certainly cause brain lesions (currently I am on one aspirin a day since I have not had any blood clots to anyone's knowledge). I am 62 years old and have been ill since my late twenties when I was very ill with almost a physical breakdown and very serious vertigo. It was not ever really diagnosed. I have had troubles since then--migraines, food and chemical sensitivities, fatigue, poor immune system, and numbness in my face. (plus what I mentioned above).
I think I should see a clinic doctor that specializes in multiple sclerosis to get a second opinion before going on this drug regimen. What do these symptoms and diagnosis lead you to believe.
