What Causes Severe Pain During A Bowel Movement?

My 22 year old daughter just called saying she had just had a bowel movement that caused extreme pain and now she is in continuous pain - hurts to sit or stand. Tried a warm bath but no change. Thought Hemorrhoid s but she said doesn t seem to be anything protruding. No bleeding.
