What Causes Severe Pain During Intercourse Post Episiotomy?

I think after the birth of my son my dr did the sewing of a tear (episiotomy) too tight I have gone to dr several times and I have been taking different medications but I am still experience severe pain during sex. So my husband and I have stopped trying I would like to know what are the symptoms of sewing tear tight?
