What Causes Severe Pain In Back?

Well I am in a lot of pain with my back I am waiting to see the surgeon and I finally got into the pain clinic but that's not till Feb 10th and I hate going to the hospital for something for pain they make you feel like some drug addict anyways a friend of mine brought me over this painkiller that he was told that they were 100mg codeine pills but I can't find them but I am in so much pain I don't know what to do they are small round blue pills with the number 81 on the back of it they kinda look like aspirin .k
