What Causes Severe Pain In Ears And Throat?

I have huge pain in my ears and troat. I was in hospital 2 days ago and they said that my heart was slower than usual and that i had a thiroid problem and this was causing the pain in my ears.... 2 days later after allot of pain killers and thiroid tablets + antibiotics the pain is worse and unbearable..... (with 600 ibuprofen + paracentmol). please guide me what you think is going on here. They said my throat did not look too much inflammed however it feels like the worse infection i ever had and i have had many bad ones. Help?
