What Causes Severe Pain In Head Radiating To Ear While On Antibiotics?

I went to the doctor for cold symptoms and he diagnosed me with an ear infection. I did not have any pain so I was surprised I had one. He prescribed me some antibiotics and the minute I started taking the antibiotic, I started feeling a lot of pain from my ear to my head. Is this normal?
