What Causes Severe Pain In Leg Radiating Down The Leg?

Hi I was told recently I have spinal stenosis. The pain is quite severe and radiates down the back of my leg. The doctor asked me if I had any kidney problems. I don't know why I said no. I have what is like a kidney infection for over a month. Just wanted to know is this serious. Thank you
