What Causes Severe Pain In Right Ear While Trying To Fit Hearing Aid?

My audiologist tried to fit me with a behind the ear hearing aid with a small tube in the ear. My right ear experienced great pain even though the conical tube was soft plastic. The ear canal was very sensitive. What are the possible causes and what can be done. I also have pressure in both ears as well as hearing loss
