What Causes Severe Pain In Right Shoulder Blade?

I have this extreme pain in my right shoulder Blade for the past two weeks. The pain is so extreme that the area that surrounds my shoulder blade and right breast has a numb and prickly sensation. I have tried pain killers and there is no luck in reducing the pain. I have a busy life where I have to type and write alot. I would really appreciate of you could tell me what i should do reduce the pain and what might be the causes and consequences of such pains?
