What Causes Severe Pain In Shoulder And Under Arm?

My wife fell feb 5, 2015 with mild pain under arm by heart on ribs. Thought was ok but pain got worse and went on 11th to hospital. Did x-rays, blood work, cat scan etc. All came out ok. Supposed to see family doctor on 15th but snowed in. Pain is sharp and aching. Main pain closes to left side toward center of body under shoulder blades and arm on ribs. On pain pills. Ice? Heat? Any suggestions.
