What Causes Severe Pain In Shoulder Joint?

I m having shoulder pain right where the arm and shoulder meet. I am 59 years old and I am not sure how this happened. Taking Advil has not helped with the pain. It is not constant but hurts when I do certain things. I ve had it for about 2 weeks now.
