What Causes Severe Pain In Wrist Joint?

Hi, I m 27 years old and have been experiencing a very painful left wrist joint. Like the below, the pain always comes a few days before my cycle. I have been to the doctors for some advice as the pain was affecting my daily life and driving. She gave me some strong painkillers which I need to take a stomach protector tablet half an hour before. I m not happy taking these every month, can you recommend another remedy please? As recommend below, I m already on an oral contraceptive pill but have been diagnosed with PCOS.
