What Causes Severe Pain Post Placement Of Plate In Ankle?

I had surgery to put a large plate in my broken ankle 11 days ago. I am still having a lot of pain & feel like cast is sticking to wound. I ve kept it elevated & iced. Appointment for doctor is a week away. Should I be concerned? I am 52, female & about 165 lbs.
