What Causes Severe Sore Throat And Extra Growth Beside Uvula?

I woke up about an hour ago, (I live in Eastern USA, so it is the middle of the night)...But I woke up out of a deep sleep with the worse sore throat that I have ever had in my life. And with that a strange feeling like I have something caught in my throat on the right side of my throat. I went to look in the mirror to see if I noticed anything strange only to find what looks like a miniature 2nd uvula hanging at the back of my pallet, between my actual uvula and my esophagus. What is that?
