What Causes Severe Vaginal Bleeding Along With Reduced Haemoglobin Levels?

I had serious bleeding and went to the hospital. A scope revealed diverticulosis and hemoroids. The blood work showed my hemoglobin dropped from 15 to 9.1, but my iron was 166. I also have hypertension. Except for being tired, I actually felt better after the blood loss. What direction should I look, or what kind of doctor. No one has ever checked iron before, and thanks to the self-diagnosis :) of the internet, it looks as if I should get it checked out. Thanks,
