What Causes Severe Wrist And Ankle Pain While On Levothyroxine?

Since starting levothyroxine 0.125 mg a wk and a half ago, I developed severe wrist, ankle, hip, and knee pain to the point of needing a cane to ambulate around in my home. I had to take pain med every 3-4 he s to no avail. My PCP requested that I hold the levothyroxine 5 days, then restart it with 1/2 tab x 5 days and then proceed back to the 0.125 mg daily. Do you agree with this protocol, if so, why?
