What Causes Sharp Intermittent Stinging Pain In Hip?

I get a sharp intermittent stinging pain in my hip on my left side. It feels like a million bee stings, and it can be so painful it takes my breath and brings tears.There is numbness in the same area even after the pain stops. Sometimes I ve sat down when it happens only to have to stand right back up since I can t bear the pain. I recently had to take percocet 5 mg for a knee injury, and even that didn t touch the pain I have in my hip. Please, what might be going on to make this bee sting pain, and what type of doctor should I see? My family doctor put me on mobic which hasn t helped at all. Thanks
