What Causes Sharp Ovarian Pain?

I was just in the E.R the other day about another series of sharp pains in the area of my right ovary. These pains have been coming and going since I was about 17 or 18, I'm now 23. These pains are never menstrual related so I knew I have a problem and the pain that I'm having right now has been going on now for 8 days and I'm not due for another period for about another week or so. The doctors in the E.R. had found that I have a bicornuate utertus, I have been doing tons of research on women with this type of uterus and none of their stories match up with mine seeing as how I've never been pregnant and the sharp pains do not come with my periods. Do you think my only option for me is to have a hysterectomy?
