What Causes Sharp Pain Above The Elbow Along With Bruising?

Hi.... I have a question about the area above my elbow in the inner area. I don't remember doing anything to cause this. I had a sharp pain above my elbow area beginning on Wednesday evening and it was off and on through Thursday and now I have a bruise that is extremely sore. What could have causes this?
