What Causes Sharp Pain Behind The Ear?

Hi I am 41 year old female taking Cartia and Simvistatin, I have experianced sharp pain on the left side behind my ear, It happened several time per day in the last 3 days, it only last less than minute, It is swelled there, I was wondering if you had any idea of what it possibly might be? maybe just a gland?
