What Causes Sharp Pain In Between Groin And Knee?

Sharp Pain inside left upper thigh from knee to crotch. That did Not go away. Not a cramp like pain, a sharp pain like a stick was rammed into my upper thigh. Put cold on it, could not walk, extremely painful, put cold packs on my inner thigh. Took hours of rest to have it subside.
