What Causes Sharp Pain In Head?

63 yoa white male; for several weeks I have experienced intensely sudden,sharp pain to either both sides of my head or back of head. Comes & goes w/i a secord or 2. No other symptoms & no pattern as to time of day or activity. May have it daily or not for weeks at a time.
