What Causes Sharp Pains In Vaginal And Anus Area?

I am 26 yrs old and have had problems with my menstrual cycle for over a year now. Currently I have a IUD and my GYN has me taking birth control pills. This is the only way that has worked to stop my bleeding. Right now I am having severe Sharp pains in vaginal and anus area. It comes and goes but I can't stand when it happens. I was wondering if this could have something to do with my IUD??
