What Causes Short Neck Of Femur With History Of Broken Hips?

Hi, i broke my hips when I was younger at the age of 8 i had pins inserted at they have been removed, i have had problems with my left hip i had an xray snd i have been referred to the hospital, they say i have a short neck of the femur, what on earth is it i am still waiting for an appointment, many thanks
