What Causes Short Term Memory Loss Inspite Of Being On Aricept Pills?

My Mom is 88 and taking arricept 2 Pills a day at night 20 mg each pill. Does it hurt to be taking at night? She has been getting very forgetful lately, and her short term memory has gotten worse. Is that the age? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank-You
