What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Swelling Of Ankles Post Valve Replacement?

I have H B pressure, had a core valve replacement and kidney function has been diagnosed as borderline but functional. Am very short of breath and have a great deal of swelling in the ankles which have now extended to the legs above the knees. Cannot wear socks and now have difficulty wearing shoes. What shall I do? larry
