What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Undergoing Breathing Test?

my husband had chest xray for work physical. he got a letter from them telling him to go to his PCP asap for CT of chest due to possible hilar adenopathy vs vascular? he had a breathing test during that physical and his volume has decreased. he states he gets winded walking up stairs. should we be concerned?
