My question is, What do you know about Lipid Clinic Labs that test blood for heart disease risk and what in that person s blood may cause them to build plaque . i.e.; genetics, sugars, cholesterol, etc. (www.rhlinc.com; www.4myheart.com). My husband recently had an MI - and underwent emergency open heart 6 bypass surgery. He had no pre-markers for being at risk for Heart Disease. He is 57. No high blood pressure, no high cholesterol, not diabetic, never smoked, not a drinker, no family history of heart disease, our diet for the past several years has been predominately poultry, with salads, veggies, eggs/oatmeal (for breakfast), we typically eat out 1 meal a week and make it a taco / chicken Cesar salad, he is approx. 10 - 15 lbs overweight. He has been healthy and active. Yet, one morning, after a 20 minute cardio workout, he had sudden onset of shortness of breath and within 8 hours was in surgery. We are interested in this lab work to see if we can pinpoint what HIS particular cause / risk factors are. Taking a statin is fine... but not if it really isn t going to help HIM. Changing his diet to low fat, low sodium is fine. We can do that too. But what if HIS risk is really in SUGAR??? It s just hard to be committed to a change if we don t know it is TRULY what HE needs. Curious if you have any insight about this type of clinical labs and their results.
