What Causes Sleeplessness After Giving Birth To A Baby?

my daughter is 5 months old and i have been having trouble falling asleep since she was born. sometimes not until 3am. tried 1 pill of paxil and stopped taking it, made me feel worse and heard many bad stories. could i go to my doc and ask for something like ambien?
