What Causes Slimy, Bloody Discharge After Period?

I am 31 years old.Since about a week after my last period, I have had slimy and somewhat bloody effluent from my vagina. The colour ranges from bright red to brown. The quantity is not large, about three teaspoons a day. The consistency is slimy/viscous/thready. I am a virgin, and as such not sexually active. Can you tell me about the likely causes?
