What Causes Small Circular Lump On The Skin?

I have a rash/small lump that ranges in sizes and shapes but are circular and its flat and scaly, and as it heals its caving in and leaving a black spot in the middle. I think I may take a trip to the dermatologists but I would just like to know if there was a problem similar to this and if it was serious
