What Causes Small Lump On Left Hip?

Hi my fiance has a very small lump on the side of his left hips ,I became very curious and when we went to our doctor he told us to go and get a ultrasound done can you tell me if this could be common in some men he said he had it since about 12 years now and he is 28 can this lump be cancerous or is it noting to worry about
