What Causes Small Purple Spots In Cervix?

Hi there, this morning I went to my OB GYN and was told that I have 2 small purple spots in my cervix. She mentioned it could be blood vesels but did a biopsy. I have to wait about 1-2 to get the results of my biopsy and pap smear but I'm curious to know what this can be? It's been 2 yrs since I've been to the GYN but prior to that, I've had normal pap smears. Can you assist? Thanks
