What Causes Small Red Boil With Pus On Knee Cap?

I have a small red boil excreting clear or white pus on my knee cap. Have been applying heated moisture cloth. wondering it I could draw infection with bentonite clay ? what else can I do. I have a 7 day of antibotics but would rather not start it. Is this truly a type of staph infection.
