What Causes Sore And Painful Bones?

Hello,so have an 84 yr old mom,healthy and active,but she has been complaining of very sore bones,says she is in lots of pain.She is so sure she has bone cancer. She been to the doc and he has given her persuasion(spelling). Do you think it is just old age?????
