What Causes Sore And Tender Areas Surrounding Nose?

The last few days the right side of my nose suptum and surronding area has become very tender and sore. I can't detect a specific area that is tender to the touch with a Q-tip as if there were a ingrown hair or sore. It is not at the opening of the nostril but further up the nostril. I have to stick a Q-tip us far enough to touch the soreness. It cannot be reached by my index finger. i can swab the Q-tip around once it is far enough up and make contact with the sore area. Again the area appears to be larger in surface than just a pimple type sore or ingrown hair. Please advise me to what i should do or how long i should allow for this to hopefully go away or heal itself??
