What Causes Sore Throat Along With Fever And Swelling Of Glands In Neck?

I have had a sore throat for the past 3 or 4 days. It is very bad today, I cant swallow, and I am running a fever. My glands are swelling in my neck, and the pain is starting to radiate down my neck into my ears, my back, and collarbone. Do I need an antibiotic and what can I take til I get to the doctor. I am 23 yr old female, I weigh 125 lbs.
