What Causes Sore Throat Every Time Before And During Menstrual Cycle?

My daughter is 17 and for a year has had a sore throat every mo. before and during her menstrual cycle only answer the Dr has given is to put her the pill so then she will only have a period every 3 mos. which I think cant be good for you
