What Causes Sore Throat With The History Of Tonsillectomy?

I ve had a tonsillectomy at least a decade ago due to chronic tonsillitis and strep throat issues. I haven t had a sore throat until last night and it came on quite suddenly. What s weird is it s pretty severe and only on the left side with very little other symptoms. What could this be caused from??
