What Causes Soreness Along With White Prominent Patch At The Back Of Throat?

I have had flu for a few days now, its not going away as yet. Fever and genral fatigue for a few days with phlegm all the time. This morning on have a sore throat, upon inspection its a wite strip going down across the back of the throat. Pain swallowing. Gargling hasnt helped
