What Causes Soreness And Pain In The Rib Cage?

I am having extreme soreness and pain just under my ribcage in the middle and slightly to the left. Also a lot of nausea and some vomiting. It is remarkably similar to what I was feeling about six months ago when I went to ER. At that point they first said hernia but ruled it out and instead removed my gallbladder. Testing also showed several hepatic lesions but they said no reason for concern about those and that my issue was gallbladder. Also feels swollen and bloated and slightly tightened near lower ribcage. When you touch just under ribcage in middle it is excrutiating. Any ideas?
