What Causes Sores On Lips?

I have been sick with a high fever/ coughing for the past 4 days. I feel much better today but since yesterday I've had these 3 huge cold sores on my lips. They are painful and very ugly. Is there anything I can do to get them to go away by tomorrow? Or atleast reduce?
