What Causes Sour Smell From The Head Of A Baby?

my 2 month old daughter has had a sour smell on the top of her head pretty much since birth. She had slight flaking before but everything's been clear for 1 month and the smell remains. I wash and dry her head thoroughly with a clean towel or air dry, so what could it be?
