What Causes Spitting Of Green Mucous Post Severe Cough?

I'm was sick with pneumonia on Dec 26, 2014 and treated with antibiotics but do not seem to be getting better. I've developed laryngitis and have a dry cough that after a severe episode of coughing I'm spitting up very thick sticky green mucous. I've been drinking tons of fluids, using vaporizes and it seems to be getting worse. Both my children were sick at Christmas one with whooping cough and the other had acute laryngitis. My son was admitted into children's hospital Boston for about a week which I stayed with him the entire time. My reg doctor is away and has nobody covering. I really don't want to sit in the ER because I just seem to be picking up everything that's going around when I visit there. I've been having trouble breathing and expierecing chest pain. I do not have a temperature.
