What Causes Spotting After Having Mirena Inserted?

hi, I got the mirena coil inserted 16th December 14, and I am still spotting everyday, some days lighter than others. is there anything I could do to stop the spotting or anything my GP could prescribe to stop this as im due to go on holiday in two weeks?
